cotton fabric coated in wax - thus making it totally waterproof.
Mizen Head garments use two types of wax cotton - Antique and Japara

Antique Wax
A garment made from Antique has all the character of an old pair of jeans. It's authentically aged appearance gives the lived in look that is sought after for casual wear. Antique wax cotton is used throughout the Mizen Head Garment range. This 8oz fabric has a naturally creased appearance and a soft sheen reminiscent of well worn leather.
Cleaning is done by sponging done with a wet cloth and regular rewaxing (every 12 months or so) will maintain the waterproof qualities and look of the garment.

Japara wax is a 4oz wax which was originally developed to meet the requirements of the country clothing market. It is a superb union of rugged durability and elegant good looks.
